25 years of my Life….

I have been wanting to write on this topic since my 25th b’day (it was in last yr Sept) but never got the interest to do so. But today I feel like sharing with you all some of my experiences in these 25 years of my life.
My earliest memories are of our 1BHK house in Gujarat where I had my first best friend -Dipu. It was so much fun roaming around in our tricycles. Then I shifted to another place that when I made a lot of friends but two among them Vivek and Lala were my best buddies..One of my major achievements was when I learnt to dress myself and tie my shoelaces…I had a sense of pride in that as I felt all grown up. Little did I know that it was just a small step in my life… when I was about 5 my sister was born and I was so happy to have her. Before leaving Gujarat we visited a good many places like Dwaraka and Gir forest where we had a real adventure though I was very young to feel afraid of anything, Udaipur in Rajasthan( I was very much impressed with the story Maharana Pratap n his horse Chetak. I have to make a special mention of one our best family friends (Mr, Choudary n Family) with whom we visited many of the places.
When I was about 8 years old we were transferred to Assam and for the first time in my life I saw the tea gardens which were beautiful in their on own way. It was here that I learnt to ride my bicycle after many a great fall which I remember very clearly as I still bear the marks to this day. Here I played for the first time cricket n badminton. In Assam I had lot of fun as we used to stay in a small colony in a very remote place so everyone knew each other and we were like one big family. It used to be fun playing hide n seek as we had lot of places to hide. One thing I fondly remember is meeting one of most cutest girls in my life for the first time..She was simply soo- soo cute . As my sis grew up she started copying me in most of the things I did, it was very irritating to say the least. I started participating in sports activities but was very bad at them…used to one of the slowest. From here too we visited many places like Darjeeling, Nepal, Sikkim, Nagaland and Calcutta. I remember visiting Rumtek monastery in Sikkim, Cherapunjee (the place which gets the highest rainfall), Kanchanjenga peak, the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal, the Kalighat temple in Calcutta. Here too I had a very good friend of the name Avinash.
When I was about 11 we were again transferred this time to Bombay,The City of Dreams(I think the name was not changed till then). Its here that I have spent a large part of my life and now I consider myself a Mumbaikar(Mee Mumbaikar). I was in 6th standard that time. Here too I joined for sports competitions and surprisingly I came second. I don’t know how I suddenly started running fast; maybe it was my joining a karate class where I used to exercise a lot. School I made two of best friends…Some of the major events which I remember are we brought a house in Panvel (Navi Mumbai). We also visited nearby places like Goa, Mahabaleshwar, Shirdi etc. Now that I was getting older studies started becoming more important and I had my all important 10th and 12th exam. As throughout my life I was an average student in 10th also I scored average marks. I gave the 10th exams in the millennium year (2000). It was in this year that I first used Internet for the time. (Still remember the dial-up connection of VSNL; it used to be so slow with frequent disconnections) In between I got my black belt too..The tests used to be so gruelling…It was a week long test daily 3 hours in a indoor Badminton Hall with all the fans switched off and windows closed to make us stifle in the heat…It was survival of the fittest..Then my 12th exams came and I performed way below my expectations…
I should make a special mention of the friendship which was formed 11-12th standard and which stands the test of time even now….We call ourselves the KAP group (name was coined in the year 2004)…You can check out our community in orkut to know more about us…Most of us are in different fields and places still we keep in touch through regular updates on the mails…
Then 2002 I joined a engineering college and escaped ragging as my admission got late and by that time the seniors were bored of ragging the juniors. Year 2003 was the year in which I suffered major setbacks, first one was the loss of my mom and then I suffering my first major failure in life….I would not like to dwell much on unpleasant memories much…but that’s when I realised value of time in one’s life…how u can’t ever get back the time that has passed..How life can change suddenly…Also that time does not wait for anyone and that life has to go on….But I have become more close to my sis..and she is the cynosure of my eyes…I just can’t see her unhappy…
So somehow scrapped through my engineering…I got my first bike a second hand TVS Victor and it was like a dream come true for me…Between it was in engineering that I made some of the best female friends (Rishina, Swapna and Priya thanks for guiding me through all my difficult times)…Again I got a good group of friends in engineering and among 3 are special (Vishu, Rohit, Krishnan).
In July 2005 there was the floods in Mumbai which threw life out of gear…We lived without electricity, telephones and mobiles dead for 4 continuos days…It was a never before experience for me living without the modern amenities…Our society did not suffer from the floods as the waters did not come till our area..But some of friends their whole houses was simply devasted…There was mud till the ceiling, vehicles damaged and all.
After engineering I joined for PG in a college in Pune. So at the age of 23 for the first time in life I stayed in a hostel. Initially I was very homesick and did not like it at all. But later when I got used to it, it was a different experience altogether. I should say that I am luck when it comes to friendships as here too I had wonderful group of friends and we were called as the B-gang (Bombay group, everyone from our group was from Bombay).

In 2008 after quite a lot of struggle in the end I got placed through campus placements and finally started working in July 2009. And Sept 2009 I completed 25 years on this planet…I think that sums up some of the major events which I can recollect during my life till now…Two things which I forgot to mention are that I simply love books and music and I also like to test different types of genres in both. I feel very lucky to have read and heard some of the best book and music…and wish to read more n more books on different subjects…In music right from Enigma to Rock like LP,Rammestien, Metallica and Trance and Techno…
I still can’t believe that I have completed 25 years, sometimes I feel that I have not grown up at all expect when I see myself in the mirror and realise that indeed I have grown up. When I was kid I could not wait to grow up and today when I am all grown up I wish to be a kid with no worries of life, just to complete the homework on time and no other responsibilities. But I do enjoy the fact that I earn now and can buy whatever interests me…I can go for movies, roam around on my bike above all there is have a sense of independence now…
Looking forward to more wonderful years ahead…Thanx for bearing with me, it was a rather long post…and also I am sorry if I missed someone or hurt anyone of you...And I had one more objective in writing on this blog if ever i lose my memory i can read this and at least i will know some of the things which happened to me(so just show me this blog)... Lastly I want to thank everyone(parents, relatives, friends, acquaintances, strangers) for the various experiences and for what I am today.

PS: A special thanks to my Uncle( Babu mama) and my cousin (achu) and my chat friend (aneesha & poornima) for encouraging me to write blogs…
